The History

The company was founded by late Sri Karupakala S Lakshmaiah Setty in the year of Indian independence 1947 with its head quarters in Bangalore, Karnataka India. He migrated from a small village called Chintamani near kolar Bangalore in the year 1930. After his migration he worked as a sales representative for Sri Krishna Rajendra Textiles Mills Mysore. Being In the sales field he was an voracious traveller and his usual trips would be 45 – 60 days covering all the states of INDIA.

He worked in Veera nagappa and sons who was an incense manufacturer in Bangalore from 1936 to 1944 as sales representative.

During a train journey he met one Mr.Rajaram Naidu who knew the knowhow of manufacturing of Benzoin and Soap nut powder. With his expertise and our Founders vast knowledge of the Indian market, they formed a company called M/s Sudarshan Benzoin and Soap Nut Works in the year 1944.

After 3 years of partnership he decided to start his own company on March 24th Monday 1947 which was the Hindu New Year , with a paltry amount and with his strong sales acumen and quality persistence he created Brand “LIBERTY” as it was year of freedom for INDIA and this was the most apt name. As this name was chosen from the French revolution motto which is liberty, equality and fraternity. With “LIBERTY” of thought, expression, belief, faith and work ship .

Liberty and Vijaya was originally serving to the pan India consumers and eventually VIJI also became the most iconic brands currently catering to over 50 countries Africa, Latin America, North America, Middle East, Far East and Asia.
